In short
What Healthcare Ethics Courses is
Healthcare Ethics Courses is an independent provider of ethics and professionalism courses for health practitioners, and the body that issues the CPD certificate for every course completed on this site. It issues certificates for courses in a number of countries — including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States and Ireland — and in Australia the courses are offered by Healthcare Ethics Australia. It was founded in 2025 by Dr Shehzad Iqbal.
The division is simple. Healthcare Ethics Australia offers the courses to practitioners registered with Australia’s 15 National Boards, hosts them, sells them and answers your questions. Healthcare Ethics Courses issues the certificate you receive at the end. Both share the same author, the same address and the same email.
It is an education provider and nothing else. It is not affiliated with, accredited by, or endorsed by Ahpra or any National Board, and no course from any provider determines the outcome of a notification, an investigation or a hearing.
The certificate
What the certificate records
Four things, the same on every certificate, so that a Board, an employer or a panel can read it at a glance.
Your name
As entered at purchase. If it needs correcting, write to us before you download the certificate.
The course title
The full title as it appears on this site, so that the subject of the work is unambiguous.
2 CPD hours
Every course carries two hours. How they count towards your own requirement depends on your Board’s CPD registration standard.
The date of completion
The date the post-course assessment was completed. A dated record is what a remediation plan, a portfolio or a written response needs.
The certificate records what you completed and when. Whether it satisfies a particular CPD obligation, or what weight a Board gives it, is for the Board to decide — and we say so on every course page rather than let you assume otherwise.
Two names, one course
Who does what
Healthcare Ethics Australia
The Australian programme. Offers the courses, hosts them on this site, sells them, and answers questions about which course suits a situation, bulk buying, invoices and licences.
Healthcare Ethics Courses
The organisation behind the programme, and the issuer of the certificate. It sets the form of the certificate and stands behind it if anyone needs to confirm what was completed.
Dr Shehzad Iqbal
Founder of both, and the author and facilitator of every course — MBBS, MRCS, MRCGP, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Law and Ethics from the University of Dundee.
Plainly
What the certificate is not
Not accreditation
No Australian National Board accredits any provider’s CPD courses. A certificate from us records completion; it does not confer approval from any regulator.
Not endorsement
Healthcare Ethics Courses holds an organisational membership of the American Accreditation Association. It is a membership held by the organisation, not accreditation of any course, and it carries no weight with Ahpra or a National Board.
Not a determinant of outcome
What a Board weighs is your insight, reflection and remediation, evidenced. A certificate is one piece of that evidence, dated. It is not a promise about the result, and no provider can offer one.
Questions
Questions people ask about the certificate
Frequently asked questions
Who issues my certificate?
Healthcare Ethics Courses issues the CPD certificate for every course completed on this site. Healthcare Ethics Australia offers the courses, hosts them and provides support; the certificate itself comes from Healthcare Ethics Courses, the organisation behind the programme.
What does the certificate record?
Your name, the course title, 2 CPD hours, and the date of completion. It is issued on completion of the post-course assessment and is available to download immediately. That is what a CPD portfolio, a remediation plan or a written response needs: a dated record of structured work on a named subject.
Is Healthcare Ethics Courses accredited by Ahpra or a National Board?
No, and we say so plainly. No Australian National Board accredits any provider’s CPD courses, so any provider claiming Ahpra accreditation should be treated with suspicion. Healthcare Ethics Courses is an independent provider. Each National Board sets its own CPD registration standard, and most recognise self-directed learning of this kind; check the hours and categories against your own Board’s standard.
Why are there two names on this site?
Because two things are happening. Healthcare Ethics Australia is the Australian programme: it offers the courses, sells them, and answers your questions. Healthcare Ethics Courses is the organisation behind that programme and the body that issues the certificate. The courses are written and facilitated by the same author for both.
Can a Board, employer or panel confirm my certificate?
Yes. Anyone who needs to confirm what you completed and when can write to us at the address below. We will confirm the course, the hours and the date against our records. The certificate is a record of completion; it does not claim, and we do not claim, that it determines any regulatory outcome.
